About the Bible

Everything in the Scriptures is God’s Word. All of it is useful for teaching and helping people and for correcting them and showing them how to live. 2
Timothy 3.16 (CEV)
Everything written in the Scriptures was written to teach us, in order that we might have hope through the patience and encouragement which the Scriptures give us.
Romans 15.4 (GNT)

The Bible is a collection of writings by people from different walks of life – prophets, kings, fishermen, etc. Each of these writers were guided by the Holy Spirit of God, yet their individuality and character is still evident.

Although it was written by different people, the Bible tells one story – about God, who loves his creation so much that he himself paid the price that would restore humanity to fellowship with God. The Old Testament looks forward to, and the New Testament centers on, the life, death and resurrection of God’s Son, Jesus Christ, who redeemed the world from the consequences of sin.

The Bible was written to show us who God is, what God is like, and what he has done. As we read its words we understand more of what God in his love requires from us and the life that he offers through Jesus Christ.
